St Vincent de Paul, Bryanston
The Society of St Vincent de Paul was formed in Paris in 1833 by Frederick Ozanam, a student at the University of Paris. The society grew rapidly, but the friends soon realised that actions speak louder than words and began to distribute firewood to the poor in winter, and later food. Visiting the poor in their homes was an essential part of the work of the conference. SSVP IS A REGISTERED PUBLIC BENEFIT ORGANISATION - NPO 003/193 - DONATIONS ARE TAX DEDUCTIBLE.

Southern Gauteng Annual Festival 2012
On Sunday 24 June, St Vincent de Paul, Bryanston attended the Southern Gauteng Annual Festival, held at La Salle College, Discovery. Despite being a cold, winter's day, the festival was well attended by Conferences from City and Northerns, Soweto and the West Rand.

The festival started with a welcome and introduction by Roy, the new incoming president of Southern Gauteng. This was followed by feedback from the various Conferences.

This was a wonderful opportunity to learn more about the Conferences, in particular their successes and challenges-a perfect platform to learn from each other so that we can better fulfill our mission.
The festival was closed off with mass where new members were dedicated. We also had the handing over of presidency to Roy and Monica as the new presidents of Southern Gauteng and Bryanston respectively. We wish them both the best!!

Another Special Thanks...
The Saturday morning craft classes at Bona Lesedi in Dieplsoot have been progressing well since its inception. Here the ladies pose with their newly acquired sewing machine which was donated by a generous donor from Bryanston Parish.
We would also like to thank the anonymous donor who knitted wonderful,
warm baby clothes and blankets. These were distributed to the babies we
visit in Diepsloot.

Christmas Party 2011!
Our annual Christmas Party for our families from Diepsloot took place on
3 December 2011 at Brescia House Sports grounds. We were blessed with
wonderful weather-clear, blue skies-perfect for a braai; and the fun and
games lined up.
The day went off well, and was enjoyed by all. Thanks to all who contributed to making it a success-a special thanks to the JAM team who volunteered their time and assisted us. We look forward to the next one- December 2012- here we come!
